Thanks for visiting! I’m Kira Lerner, author of romantic suspense, paranormal, young adult and contemporary novels and webfiction. If your taste leans toward immersive and colorful settings; complex and conflicted characters; and tales that take these characters on challenging journeys through interwoven psychological, adventurous, passionate and dangerous paths… well, you’ve come to the right place!
My published work includes the unique personalized novellas Fierce Moon (a paranormal romance thriller featuring mayhem, desire and supernatural curses unearthed in the flickering gaslight of Victorian London), Night Wolf (the YA adaptation of Fierce Moon with the same time-travel adventure and suspense), and Tropical Treasure (a comic romance where reality show contestants struggle to find love despite the competition and sabotage that could tear them apart). What do I mean by ‘personalized’? It means that these books can star you… or anyone you’d like to choose as the hero, heroine and other characters. Fantastic gifts for yourself and friends or loved ones!
For free serialized fiction, there’s About Schuyler Falls, one of the earliest and longest-running webserials launched in 1997: it’s an exciting saga of a troubled Upstate New York town and its troubling residents–perfect for fans of continuing TV dramas, both daytime and nighttime soap operas. Murder, passion, family drama, taut suspense, heartfelt romance, dark humor and just a touch of the bizarre: it’s all in here, in a saga that gets deeper and more twisted the longer you read!
Currently I’m co-authoring a massive five-book fantasy series set in a modern realm of magic, where fairies, elves, dragons and sorcerers live not terribly far from your doorstep (and definitely not in secret). Instead of yet another battle between a Chosen One and an Evil Overlord, the Shadow Beyond Time series follows the lives of a group of friends (and frenemies) who grow from childhood to young adulthood as they attempt to comprehend their developing mystic powers, budding hormones, betrayals, family secrets, and political intrigue that could destroy them all. Think Harry Potter meets Game of Thrones. My next solo works will include another gothic paranormal, where a young journalist uncovers the story of her life: a missing person case with a trail that leads her all the way to the 19th century; and a YA thriller based on a true story, focusing on a girl whose best friend disappeared under mysterious circumstances only to return… and cause even more mystery.
I’m also a freelance editor and proofreader, working with fiction authors to take their stories through every stage of development–from building a strong foundation to adding a final coat of polish.
On my blog, I’ll discuss my works in progress, exploring the characters, setting and world-building that goes into them. I’ll also offer insights into the editorial process, and of course talk about my interests such as British history, my favorite music, and books, books, books. I hope you’ll join in the conversation too, because there’s nothing I love more than getting to know my fellow readers and writers!
